1980:
Parallel Motion Consultants created by David Williamson, ex Brabham and McLaren Formula 1™ engineer (aero wings and engine component fabrication) with a specialised interest in wastegate infrastructures, commencing in the late 70s and 80s era of F1™ turbo charged engines

1983: Moved to larger premises in Bicester, UK, Motorsport F1™ Valley here

1985: Sign up as technical partner to Indy’s Penske Cars (chassis) and Chevrolet-Ilmor (engine)

1987: Joined by ex-Williams GP F1™ fabrication team

1988: Parallel Motion sign up as technical development partner for the Jaguar XJ220/XJR-15 road & race development/manufacture programmes

1989: Sign up as technical development partner for the Chrysler Corporation ongoing motorsport programmes (Lamborghini/Viper etc)

1990:
Sign Up As Technical Development Partner For The DTM Team AMG Mercedes/Opel/BMW Programmes

1991: Power/Efficiency assist the majority of the Indycar and F1™ grid at various points over the next decade

1992: Sign up as technical development partner for the McLaren Cars F1 roadcar programme

1993: Sign up as technical development partner for Mercedes-Ilmor, high performance competition engines

1995: Sign up as technical development partner for the McLaren Cars Motorsport, F1 GTR competition development programme

1996: Full blown F1™, Indycar, & Le Mans fabrication operation (Engine, Suspension, & Efficiency specialists) … branded Parallel Motion Engineers

1997: Key development partner with the ‘Longtail’ McLaren F1 GTR

1998: Significantly increased chassis and suspension operations. (Racing dynamics> lighter=faster).

1999: Joined by ex-NISMO Europe technical team members.

DOMINATION

2000: Sparshott* Engineering (Chassis & Suspension Specialists) Amalgamated With Parallel Motion. Moved Into Parallel Motion HQ Buildings In Joint Technical & Strategic Partnership.

*(Robert Sparshott – F1™ chassis and suspension specialist, ex-Lotus F1 technician, McLaren F1 privateer team owner, BMW M1 Procar factory partner, McLaren sportscar build partner, 1985 F3000 Champion team owner/Technical Director, latterly branded E-Squared Engineering).

2000: Rapidly expanding relationship with the newly created HWA GmbH (AMG Mercedes Racing) in the reformed DTM

2002: Expanded outfit, known exclusively as Parallel Motion, active in highest echelons of Race, Rally, & Track competition, through major partnerships with Prodrive, Reynard Motorsport, Toyota F1 etc.

2003: Parallel Motion Headed By Automotive Entrepreneur Ian Donaldson: (Race) – Race Team Consultancy, Lister Racing Co-Owner, Cosworth World Authoritarian, National Rally Champion, Le Mans racer. (Road) – Automotive Manufacturer Consultancy, Lister Cars Co-Owner, Specialist Vehicles Builder, Jaguar XJ220 World Authoritarian.

2004: Majority of elite racing teams now fuelled by rapidly swelling manufacturer finance budgets and requirement models, sees movement of majority of components in-house where possible, thereby gradually reducing teams’ reliance on outside suppliers.

2005: A new era requiring a renewed focus on consultancy for race teams and roadcar manufacturers, and not squarely on component manufacture.

2008: Parallel Motion Consultants (designers), successfully diversify with renewed attention on design consultancy for elite Supercar race teams and exotic vehicle manufacturers.

2009: Technical development partner on world’s first competition Bentley Continental GT Group N racecar.

2010: Technical partner M-Tech Racing, Ferrari 430 Scuderia GT3, International FIA GT

2011: Technical partner Aston Martin Racing, International FIA GT

2012: Technical partner Aston Martin Racing and Gulf Racing, Le Mans

2015: Technical build partner Pagani UK, Zonda Nero ‘GT’.

2016/17: Development partner Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo Sport, Sony Playstation.

2017: Technical partner VC/Maserati Corse, Maserati GranTurismo GT4, Euro GT4 + Euro Cup.
